Update

The MRI looked great! Maggie has been sleeping most of the day. She finally felt like walking the halls this evening! Here's a pic of her with her nurses.

Doing great!

Maggie had a good night from about 10 o'clock on. Temp is normal this morning. Taking her for a post op MRI sometime this morning.

Surgery is over!

The surgery went great! They are closing her up now. No complications. Janell and Steve just talked to Dr. Boop and he said that the area he removed was scar tissue and the rest of her brain shows NO seizure activity!

Everything went really well. No extra bleeding and no sign of infection. It will be about an hour before they get her to recovery.

Janell and Steve are so happy!

Go Time!

Hey everyone! They just took Maggie from her room to prep for surgery. The prep will take 1.5 hours. The actual surgery will take between 4-5 hrs. Please pray this prayers with me:

Father, we come before you boldly and confidently knowing You are the God of miracles, the God of love, power and might. We bring to you Maggie and ask she would be restored--made completely whole--in the name of Jesus.

We intercede on Maggie's behalf and for her family and loved ones and proclaim victory! We thank You that You set Your angels around her. You are her refuge and fortress. She shall not be afraid. You give Your angels charge over Maggie to keep her in all Your ways. -Amen

I can't thank you all enough for your prayers and support. I will pass along updates as I get them!

Ah! So fresh and so clean!

Maggie was finally able to take her first shower post surgery! Thank you for the comfy pj's Arbra!

Update

Maggie had the MEG test today and the surgeon is confident he will be able to remove the area causing the seizures! The surgery is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30am. Please be praying during that time!

In the meantime, Mags is unhooked from her wires leaving her more room to roam!

No wires! Yay!
Fresh air...kind of.
Keeping busy!
One more thing--A special thank you to new friends, with LOTS in common, for the beautiful gift!

Good news!

Maggie had a large seizure this morning lasting about two minutes. The nurses were in the room within seconds proving Maggie is in great hands!

Dr. Wheless came in after her seizure and had great news! The seizures are all coming from the same place in Maggie's brain--this means they should be able to take care of everything during the big surgery on Wednesday.

She still has the MEG test scheduled for tomorrow morning, but she will not have to be sedated. After the test they will be able to unhook the wires from the top of her head and she will be mobile. Yay!

The surgery is still scheduled for Wednesday and he said they will keep her for 3-4 days after, so we are hoping she will get to go home Saturday. Patty changed her flight to go home Friday night.

Maggie is sleeping now. And another thing (as Mags always says) Dr. Wheless said it is her job to take care of number one and number two today!

Moving to the sofa is way more comfy!
Playing Words With Friends with Matthew to pass the time.

Thank you!

So many of you have showered Maggie and our family with prayer and gifts. We cannot thank you enough! It means so much.

Update

Mags slept most of the day after breakfast. Her leg has been hurting some where they did the wada test. It's bruised from the cath.

She's been playing Words With Friends most of the afternoon. Only two pain pills today--5 am and 3:30 pm.

Mom tried to get her up to potty and she said, "It's Saturday! I thought all we had to do today was lay around and rest."

Ha!

A little freedom

Mags is finally able to get up and sit in a chair beside her bed--she can walk as far as her cords will let her. She can make it to the bathroom now, which is great! But she still can't leave the room or anything.

MEG test

Maggie's MEG test (she has to have this before they can do the second part of the surgery) is scheduled for 10am on Monday.

This means the second part of surgery will be Wednesday. At this point we have no idea how long recovery will be--all depends on how well she responds to everything.

The picture is info on the MEG test.

update

Maggie had another MRI this afternoon and Dr. Wheless says he is getting great information from the grid and the two small seizures she's had. He is hoping he has enough by Monday to go ahead with the second part of the surgery. That would be great!

She had her first meal post surgery today--1/2 slice of banana bread Nana sent with her! It hurts her to eat so that's all she was able to get down.

She is able to get up and go to the bathroom, but it takes 3 nurses just to carry all of the wires coming from her head!

She's been playing Words with Friends too. If you'd like to play her, she's magsterneu : - )

More info soon! Thanks everyone!

For all of you who know Maggie so well, please read the following in Maggie's voice.  She just woke up because her IV was beeping and they also needed to try to get her to pee.

"My head feels better. Hey"  Janell says, yes.  Maggie points at the nurse. "Hey".  I tell Maggie her name is Cindy.  "Hey, can you give me more of that medicine that made my head feel better?"  "And, can you stop all the beeping?"  Then she proceeds to say that we should be quiet because she is afraid it will make her head hurt.

Tried to pee, but nothing.  Janell tells the nurse that Maggie can go for HOURS without.  So, they will try again in a bit and her next pain meds come at 11:15.

She is in charge!

post surgery

Maggie is out of recovery. They are working on getting her grid hooked up and working (all of the wires and stuff they hooked up during the surgery). She has squeezed the doctor's finger and wiggled her toes! This is great news. But she does say her head hurts. Please keep praying for overwhelming comfort!

out of surgery

Update: Maggie made it through the first surgery! Everything went extremely well--very little bleeding. My mom and Steve will be able to see her in about 30 minutes. They will keep her elevated to minimize headaches. She will have some swelling and bruising. Please continue to pray for her healing. You all are incredible! Thank you! Thank you!!!

Update

OR called to say things are progressing along
No issues
Vitals are stable
They will call again within the hour

Prayer

Mom got a call from the OR and Maggie's vitals are good and she was not scared to go to sleep. Praise God!

We are calling on everyone to pray this prayer for Maggie:

Heavenly Father, I call on you in a special way. It is through your power Maggie Jo Neu was created, every breath she takes every hour she wakes she lives under your power. For if you created her you can surely recreate her with your healing spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in her, heal what is broken, root out any unproductive cells , open any blocked arteries or veins. Rebuild damaged areas remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection. Let the warmth of your healing love pass through her body to make new any unhealthy areas of her body function in the way you created it. Father restore her to full health in mind and body so that she may serve you the rest of her life. I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!!!

surgery: part 1

Maggie is back in surgery now. This is part one of a two part surgery. We are supposed to receive updates from the OR and will pass those along. Keep up your prayers!

Kisses from mom before they took her back to surgery.

Test Results

Hey everyone! I just talked to Maggie! She is in great spirits after her test. Thank you, Jehovah Shammah! Some news: all of her speech is on the right side of her brain, which is good news, because the damaged area causing the seizures is on the left. They will go in tomorrow and do all of the prep work (make the incision into her skull and place the grids) for surgery next week. At this point, we aren't sure if the surgery to remove damaged area will be Mon, Tues or Wed. In the mean time, the doctors have told us after the procedure tomorrow, Mags will have some bad headaches, so please be praying in that regard. Thank you all so much for your support! It means a lot to our family!

getting hooked up!

Mags is successfully checked in to the hospital and is already getting hooked up to the eeg. The WADA test, where they put each 1/2 of the brain asleep, will begin around 7:30 this morning.

Mags made it to Memphis!

After the long drive from Stroud America to Memphis, TN, Maggie is settled in at the FedEx house. She will check in her room at Le Bonheur bright and early tomorrow morning for testing. Patty arrives tomorrow and will take over the blog and updates. Stay tuned!
